I am a woman who has picked myself up more times than the average piece of litter in a house proud home. This blog is intended to make every woman in her 50s feel fabulous and hopefully laugh along the way. Enjoy!

Saturday night – red nails and red PJs

It’s Saturday evening in early autumn. Back in the 1980s, Saturday evenings were spent in a small house with five members of my family. We would watch The Generation Game, followed by Dempsey and Makepeace. Then, we’d have a chippy meal and there were always loads of arguments as I fought for a side seat…

Fat Men in Lycra Blocking My Road

When I woke up on a sunny Saturday morning, I had plans to run some errands and enjoy the day. However, my plans were quickly disrupted as I opened my front door to find a large group of amateur cyclists blocking my road. It seemed that a cycling race had taken over my neighbourhood, much…

Dating Elon Musk was exhausting

On Saturday morning, I woke up feeling mentally exhausted. I had a dream that I was dating Elon Musk, and it felt like hard work. It’s strange because I have no reason to dream about him since I am currently dating the perfect man. I think it’s because I’ve become addicted to GB News recently,…

Gold Digger

My ex (father of my twins) first relationship after we split was with a Russian gold digger. She worked at the local launderette, and their eyes met over the industrial washing machine. Apparently her face looked like a slapped backside but her body was ‘the most beautiful thing he had seen’. She gave him the…

My own corner of the internet

Being in my 50s, I find dealing with technology overwhelming at times. The rise of social media and blogging makes it seem like everyone is sharing online, which can be daunting. Today, I spent 5 hours setting up a blog, and although it’s not perfect, I’m proud to have achieved this despite my limited technical skills.

Creating a blog requires basic knowledge of technology and patience. As a 52-year-old who didn’t grow up with technology, the process was overwhelming for me. However, after some trial and error and perseverance, I finally managed to create a blog and share my thoughts with the world.

I have a 17-year-old son in the house. When I asked him to help after 4 hours, he grunted, looked bored, and made some excuse to rush back to his bedroom to continue doing whatever he does for hours each day. I also have a 17-year-old daughter who is at her lenient dad’s house with her boyfriend, so I couldn’t ask her. It’s frustrating that after going through the pain of childbirth and the expense of raising kids, you don’t always get to benefit from their Gen Z skills and knowledge as a repayment.

One day, this blog will be visually appealing, adorned with pictures of James Hetfield, looking classy! Until then, please enjoy the content and overlook the dull visual appearance.

Setting up a blog is a learning process, and I recognise that it will take time. I am committed to persevering and dedicated to this endeavour. My blogs reflect my thoughts and experiences, and I refuse to let my lack of technical ability hinder me from sharing my voice with the world. I embrace the challenge and am enjoying the journey of creating my own corner of the internet.
